Helping your team and organization determine the right things to deliver
Hi, I’m Kent J. McDonald, the founder of KBP.Media.
How I Can Help
The way I see it, the easiest way to do the right things is to not do the wrong thing. The tricky bit is figuring out what is right and what is wrong, and making sure everyone involved understands the difference.
My approach is to help you learn and apply practical techniques to avoid the wrong things, and effectively do the right things. I also work with you and your team to build the collaboration necessary for continued effectiveness.
What I’m not going to do is come in with a canned approach, silver bullets, or one sized fits all solutions. I’m a big believer in the importance of context, and I make sure I understand your unique situation and identify the helpful techniques and approaches that will be most effective in those situations.
Why I Can Help
In the 2 decades since graduating from Iowa State University with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Kent State University, I have gained experience in training delivery and development, business analysis, strategic planning, project management, and product development in a variety of industries including financial services, health insurance, performance marketing, human services, and automotive.
In non profit settings, I was a co-founder and Board President of the Agile Project Leadership Network (now the Agile Leadership Network), and Board President of the Greater Iowa Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I also chaired the 2009 Iowa Business Analyst Development Day and the Agile2013 Conference, as well as helped organize several other regional and international conferences.
I wrote Beyond Requirements: Analysis with An Agile Mindset and co-wrote Stand Back and Deliver: Accelerating Business Agility.
I started KBP in 2007 as a business analysis consulting firm, but I eventually realized a broader interest in helping teams and organizations be more effective by doing the right things and not doing the wrong things. I’ve found that effective business analysis and product ownership positions teams and organizations to deliver the right solution to a business need. Non-profit organizations can also apply business analysis and product ownership to fulfill their missions.
I rebranded to KBP.Media in 2016 to provide practical resources – books, online courses, and curated content – to help teams and organizations get more done by doing less thru effective business analysis and product management.
